Milei promotes business climate in Argentina at event in New York
The Milei event at the Council of the Americas was attended by representatives of important companies
Argentine President Javier Milei concluded his trip to the United States in New York this Friday, where he met with important business leaders and made an important personal visit to a venerated religious site.
Accompanied by a delegation composed, among others, of the Minister of Economy, Luis Toto Caputo, and the presidential secretary (and sister), Karina Milei, he held a private meeting at the Council of the Americas, which brings together senior executives from important international corporations. Milei’s presentation was titled “New investment opportunities in Argentina”.
During the meeting, which lasted an hour and a half, the president encouraged executives to invest in Argentina, highlighting government measures aimed at generating “predictability and attracting capital”. He then detailed labor and tax reforms planned to improve the country’s business climate, including the recently implemented RIGI (Regime for Large Investment Incentives), which offers significant tax exemptions for foreign capital.
Attendees represented a broad spectrum of global businesses, including executives from Pfizer, Merck, Sharpe & Dohme, Morgan Stanley, Cisco Systems, Salesforce, FedEx, Glencore, Newmont Corporation, AES Corporation and McEwen Copper Inc.
The visit to New York followed Milei’s participation in a political forum in Miami, where she spoke about the virtues of capitalism.
After his presentation to investors, President Milei made a private pilgrimage, as he usually does, to the Ohel, in the Queens neighborhood. There is the tomb of Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson, known as the Lubavitch Rebbe, spiritual leader of the Chabad-Lubavitch movement. Milei visits the Ohel Temple during her stay in New York, having requested a blessing there for her presidential candidacy in July 2023. The purpose of this latest visit was supposedly to thank her for her recent electoral victory on October 26.
The delegation would later leave for Bolivia to attend the inauguration of the new president, Rodrigo Paz, before returning to Buenos Aires on Saturday.
