The BLET megaproject in Cordoba, epicenter of the ambitious Army Modernization Project 2035has taken another key step towards its materialization: the call for tenders for the central contract for the construction of the main buildings of the pharaonic complex, which will revolutionize the … military logistics support with cutting-edge technologies industry 4.0.
This first (and most relevant) phase of action will cost 394.8 million euros which will mainly be used to construct around thirty buildings with logistics function and maintenance of weapon systems; as well as real estate administrative and services.
As indicated in the tender documents with the work execution packages, among all the buildings planned, two will constitute the operational core of the military base, around which all the work carried out will be structured. The importance of these complexes is crucial: it is not in vain that they will need more than 50% of the investment planned for this first phase of actions (i.e. 202,275,896 euros).
This is the workshop (Land Weapons Systems Maintenance Center, Cemsatet) and the store (Cabet Supply Center), around which the equipment necessary for the operation of the Base has been provided.
He Cemsatet It will occupy a plot of land of 95,000 square meters built. This will basically be the macro-workshop dedicated to repair and maintenance military equipment. It will be supported by auxiliary complexes such as the ITV and diagnostic building to carry out technical inspection and fault detection (3.4 million euros); test benches (7.6 million) technical hall (13.5 million); and different platforms (three areas costing more than 10 million euros each), among others.
For its part, the Army Supply Center (Cabet), will be used for efficient distribution of supplies; It will consist of a main warehouse, the cost of which is 68.2 million euros and a surface of 42,500 square meters. It will be entirely robotic and will include a conventional zone, another automated zone and another with regulated temperature where dangerous goods will be processed.
It will be completed by other auxiliary facilities as a store of recoverable materials for assemblies awaiting repair; as well as operational and inoperative equipment areas.
This first batch of the first phase of the project will cost 319.9 million euros; It will have a completion time of 36 months and the idea is that work can begin in April 2026.
Services and life on the Base
As for the second lot (which will require an investment of 74.8 million), it will concern buildings with administrative and service functions. Among the infrastructures to be built are the Command building (9.2 million) to monitor and control all activities inherent to the Base; the guard corps (1.2 million) to direct, coordinate and monitor security; or Cecom (3 million euros), responsible for communication and management of CIS systems.
Logistics base accommodation
There will also be a first aid kit to facilitate health support actions (1.2 million); A kitchen dining room (5.5 million); accommodation (5.6 million for a total capacity of 330 people) or laundry (2.4 million).
Other areas of administration and projected services, such as museum, sports field or early childhood education center They do not appear to be budgeted in this batch, so it is expected that they will be executed in the next phase, which will take place in 2029.
