Convicted of the rape and murder of a child in 2005, he was executed a few hours after his release from prison
Military police, civil police and Politec isolated the area and began forensic work. The case has been referred to the Sinop Homicide and Personal Protection Police Station (DHPP), which is seeking to identify the shooters, clarify the motivations and determine whether the execution is linked to João’s release from the prison system.
The death of little Bruno marked the police history of the city of Sinop. On October 28, 2005, João lured Bruno to the construction site where he worked as a mason, according to information from TV Centro América. In his first statements, he confessed to assaulting, raping and killing the boy, in addition to burying the body nearby.
The family reported the disappearance as soon as they realized the child had not returned home. The search lasted several days, until João was arrested after trying to attack another child. On the construction site, the police found evidence directly linking him to Bruno’s disappearance, including marbles that belonged to the child. He showed her the place where he had buried the body.
The conviction was based on expert reports, injury mapping, crime scene analysis and evidence of the body’s concealment.
