The 21-year-old woman who was brutally killed with more than 20 stab wounds, inflicted by her ex, is Mirelly Cristina da Silva (featured photo). The crime occurred in Itaúna (MG). The young woman was captured as she left the house by 22-year-old Vitor Caetano Figueiredo. The attacker was hiding in the wall next to the gate of the residence. When he saw the woman, he attacked her. Security cameras from a nearby home recorded the cruel and cowardly attack.

Fernanda Francine Eleoterio Martins, the victim’s sister, said another relative called her to tell her about the tragedy that had struck the family: “Vítor murdered Mirelly.” “She was just a girl, she was 21, but she was a girl,” says Fernanda, in an interview with Rádio Itatiaia.
According to her, Mirelly was born with a rare disease, fought for her life and “died at the hands of this ordinary person.” The sister added that the perpetrator was treated like a son by the family and that the victim ended the relationship because he was “toxic.”
“We want justice, but we don’t believe in it. Femicides follow one another, every day you see women losing their lives at the hands of these cowards. They do it because they know it will lead to nothing. There is now a woman who defends him, a lawyer. So how are we going to believe in the justice system? The police arrest them, the justice system goes there and frees them,” said Fernanda.

- The crime took place this Thursday (22/12), in Itaúna – Minas Gerais.
- After the femicide, Vitor fled, but was arrested a few hours later at the Belo Horizonte bus station by military police.
- Firefighters were called to the scene and found Mirelly lying down with multiple puncture wounds.
- Samu confirmed the death on site.
Confession
At the police station, Vitor Caetano confessed to the crime and said he had a relationship with Mirelly for three years. The relationship ended in March this year. According to delegate João Marcos do Amaral Ferreira, Vitor Caetano said that after the breakup they did not maintain contact, but that he monitored her routine and frequented Itaúna.
The trigger came when Vitor Caetano discovered that the victim had a new boyfriend. Civil police described the attack as premeditated, as the person indicted admitted to having bought a barbecue knife on Monday (12/8) and to having traveled from Belo Horizonte to Itaúna on Wednesday. He went by bus, then called a car via an app, directly to the victim’s home, where he waited for her.
Police chief João Marcos do Amaral Ferreira described the suspect as cold: “He said he didn’t remember how many blows he gave and he even smiled out of the corner of his mouth during his testimony. »
