Producer and businesswoman Paula Lavigne, wife of Caetano Veloso, said, in an audio circulating in WhatsApp groups, that she was outraged when she saw the video of actor Wagner Moura demanding greater commitment from the Lula government in the development of the streaming regulation bill.
Paula also says that she regrets having acted politically with Senator Randolfe Rodrigues for the entry of Paulo Alcoforado as director of Ancine. Paulo was reportedly responsible for guiding Wagner in making the video.
Still in the audio, she claims that Paulo, former Ancine president Manoel Rangel and MP Jandira Feghali (PC do B-RJ) are conspiring to overthrow Culture Minister Margareth Menezes.
“I am very sorry for helping to place this Mr. Paulo Alcoforado, who, together with Jandira and Manoel Rangel, are conspiring against Maga, because they want… Jandira wanted to be minister. That’s the truth.”
“It’s in the audio recorded here, I say this because after watching for a long time everything that is happening and everything they are doing, working against, sabotaging the MinC, today I can guarantee it.”
Contacted, Jandira affirms that her relationship with the minister is one of “partnership and support, and she knows it”. “After 40 years of public life, fighting for Brazilian culture, I do not waste time on minor intrigues, the interests of which I do not know,” he adds.
She also says that she is vice-president of the Lula government and that “we have had an alliance since 1989 because we believe that under his leadership Brazil will advance.”
Contacted by the chronicle, Alcoforado and Rangel did not comment. Paula also did not respond to the column’s attempts to contact her.
Wagner Moura’s criticism of MinC’s performance in PL streaming angered the government.
Still in the audio, Paula defends the Lula administration and claims to be a witness to how the department led by Menezes worked in the audiovisual sector. “I’m not from the government, I’m not from the PT, I’m not affiliated with any. I’m progressive, but I’m not being unfair. I’m president of an association that I’m very proud of, because I represent many important artists, and I stand with the MinC to see all the sacrifices they’ve made and the government’s commitment to our causes in the creative industry.”
“I am really very sorry, because the person (Paulo) took the phone to call Wagner Moura, to guide him to speak against the government and the MinC. I cannot understand, at a time when everyone is angry with this Congress. It is the Congress that makes the law. Today is December 10, Wednesday. Everyone sleeps at dawn, the Congress goes there and votes for a slight amnesty, a real coup d’état”, she continues.
“And then we wake up to a video of our wonderful Wagner Moura demanding the MinC and the government, as if the MinC and the government did nothing,” he says.
