The delegate for Culture of the Provincial Delegation of Córdoba, Gabriel Duque, announced the final resolution of the call for grants for the conservation, restoration and rehabilitation of the historical and artistic heritage of the province for the year 2025, a program that will award total … of 900,000 euros to 24 restoration projects of and eleven castlesin both cases, private and public property.
Duque explained that “a large part of the aid goes to Assets of Cultural Interest (BIC), which They have greater protection and we must maintain it because they are a source of tourism and economy for the province and we must preserve this heritage as a legacy. Of the total amount of 900,000 euros, 300,000 euros goes to private entities and 600,000 euros to municipalities.
There are 24 grants intended for 13 municipalities and 11 private entities. Among them, the Roman cisterns of Monturque, the sidewalk of the Roman Bridge of Villanueva del Duque, another Roman bridge over the Guadarramilla River in Añora, the Iberian town of Cerro de la Cruz in Almedinilla or the mural painting of the vaults of the hermitage of Santa Rita de Espejo.
Likewise, the municipalities of Dos Torres receive a subsidy for the packaging of the ancient hermitage of San Roque de Torrefranca; that of Pedro Abad, for the restoration of the old municipal warehouse; o Palma del Río, for the development of the tower of the Almohad wall.
Also the Town Hall of Hornachuelos, at the restoration of part of the east wall; and Peñarroya-Pueblonuevo, for the rehabilitation of the station’s passenger building. The grant reaches La Rambla, for the arcades of the former convent of Santísima Trinidad; Fuente Obejuna, for an intervention on the facade of the building called Casa Cardona; and Obejo, for the consolidation of the Roman oven which includes the BIC historic site of Cerro Muriano.
Regarding private entities, Duque emphasized that “most of them are parishes that are owned by the Church or brotherhoods and brotherhoods, such as the parish of Cristo de la Salud in Aguilar, the altarpiece of the hermitage of the Virgen de los Remedios in Villafranca, the church of the sacred heart of Jesus at the Castellar de Priego or at the monastery of the Poor Clares of Montilla.
Likewise, also in the private sector, projects such as the restoration of tower 5 of the Almohad wall of the Portocarrero Palace in Palma del Río, the rehabilitation of the Calvary hermitage of the Brotherhood of Jesús del Calvario and the major altarpiece of the parish of Nuestra Señora del Rosario de Fuencorta.
In addition to emergency action on the roofs of the church of Santa Marina de Fernán Núñez, the restoration of the altarpiece of the chapel of Montserrat of the parish of San Mateo de Lucena, the conservation of the roof of the Church of the Assumption on La Rambla and the restoration of the main altarpiece of the parish of Nuestra Señora del Castillo de Fuente Obejuna.
The castles
Concerning the conservation, restoration and rehabilitation of castles, 16 files were submitted and 11 grants were awardedten for municipal castles and one for private castles, the Almodovar Castle, because it is made available to the Town Hall on numerous occasions and activities of cultural interest such as the “Encantá Souk” are carried out there.
The rest of the aid concerns the Torre del Espartal in Priego de Córdoba, an intervention in the courtyard of the Santaella Castle, the north tower of the Torreparedones Castle, the enclosure walls of the Alcazaba or Castillo Mota in Montoro, the restoration of the Belmez Castle Tribute Tourthe medieval cistern of Dos Hermanas Castle in Montemayor; as well as the conservation and cleaning of the walls and towers of the medieval wall of Luque.
Also the rehabilitation of Clock Tower of the Alcazaba of Iznájarthe sidewalks of the Aguilar de la Frontera Castle and the Torre del Homenaje of the Castro del Río Castle.
