King Charles III published a personal message this Friday about his experience with cancer, as part of a national awareness campaign in the United Kingdom. The video, pre-recorded in November, was broadcast by Channel 4 in a special dedicated to ‘Stand Up to Cancer’, an initiative which raises funds for research and treatment of the disease.

At 77, the monarch was diagnosed with an unspecified type of cancer last year. The king revealed that he had seen significant improvement in his fight against the disease, which he described as a “personal blessing”. He said his treatment could be significantly reduced in 2026. In the statement, he stressed the importance of examinations and screening that can identify tumors at an early stage for the success of treatments:
— I learned something that worries me deeply: at least nine million people in our country are not up to date on their cancer screening tests. This represents at least nine million missed opportunities for early diagnosis.
He described the experience of being diagnosed with cancer as “devastating” and asked for prayers for the hundreds of thousands of people across the UK who are diagnosed with cancer each year.
