The collection in partnership with the Approve brand goes viral due to a spelling mistake in a print priced at R$279.99;
Friday (12) marked the launch of an unprecedented partnership between Botafogo and the Approve brand, but the casual collection went viral for an unusual reason: a mistake in Portuguese. One of the t-shirts from the special line, selling for R$279.99, featured the word “ningém” (without the letter U) prominently on the front. The spelling error did not, however, prevent the immediate commercial success of the product, which disappeared from virtual shelves in record time.
The draw was intended to pay homage to one of the most famous and passionate songs from the black and white stands: “Nobody understands this feeling”.
However, failing the exam turned the phrase into a source of astonishment and memes on social media. Interestingly, the piece was sold on the official website even before noon, the time set by the club and the brand for the official start of sales of the complete collection. The store’s own page featured a promotional video revealing the spelling mistake, which caught the attention of most attentive fans. Apparently it is no longer on the networks and has been replaced by another where the error has been corrected.

Botafogo takes a stand on the gaffe
The misstep was limited to this specific t-shirt design. Another piece in the collection, inspired by traditional baseball uniforms and priced at R$479.99, featured the same embroidered phrase, but with the correct spelling. This higher value item also sold out quickly. The collaborative line also includes a variety of accessories, such as socks, caps, shorts and jackets. This action represents Glorioso’s first collaboration with a fashion brand that does not belong to the sports equipment segment, following a trend that Approve has already achieved with Vasco, Corinthians and Internacional.
Faced with the fallout and high demand, officials acted quickly to overcome the situation. One of Approve’s partners confirmed to the newspaper “O Globo” that the factory had already remade the parts with errors and promised to restock the item after the correction. Botafogo has also officially positioned itself to reassure consumers. The club reiterated that it immediately withdrew the product and guaranteed the integrity of the purchase.
“No fan will be harmed and all items purchased will be delivered correctly,” assures the official note.
