After passing the Black Friday test, Amazon announces one of its strong bets for Christmas: delivery in 3 hours for customers in Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo. The new method allows the customer to receive their order within a few hours, on the same day, and to choose their preferred time slots.

The target of this service are items considered “high demand” and included in more than 30 categories, such as food, cleaning products, office products, toys and products for seasonal dates, explains Mariana Grottera, delivery experience leader at Amazon.
— We already have a widespread network throughout Brazil that delivers in 2 days maximum. But this year we have had a lot of investment to accelerate even more in the seven major capitals where we have a distribution center to deliver the same day — she said. — Now we come with this launch for São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, which is delivered in times of up to 3 hours.
Same-day delivery has increased this year and is available in seven cities nationwide. In addition to Rio and São Paulo, Porto Alegre, Brasilia, Fortaleza, Recife and Belo Horizonte also have this service.

The executive explains that 3-hour delivery is another option in the wake of the diversification – and acceleration – of shipping time options for consumers. This also includes collection points and the possibility of choosing a day of the week when the customer can concentrate on receiving their orders.
Amazon now has 250 logistics points in Brazil, around 100 of which were opened in 2025. It is this expansion of the digital retail giant’s operational capillarity that paves the way for faster deliveries. In 2024, the company has invested 13.6 billion reais in Brazil, a level that could be exceeded this year.
— We will close this year and adopt a rule so that we know the volume (of the investment), but we remain at a level similar or higher than the one we invested in 2004 — says Mariana.

The expansion of the logistics structure is also reflected in the growth of Amazon’s overall operations in the country. In the final quarter of this year, the company hired 13,000 temporary workers to bolster operations during peak retail periods from Black Friday to Christmas. This is double the volume of 2024. There is no estimate of the share of this workforce which could, depending on demand, be implemented after this peak season.
For Prime customers, subscribed to Amazon benefits, delivery within 3 hours is free for purchases from R$19, with the exception of supermarket products and books, where this minimum is R$79. Below these values, the delivery costs for Prime customers are R$8.90 and for those who do not subscribe to the service, R$10.90.
