Moscow announced on Saturday (12/13/2025) that it had bombed Ukrainian energy and military facilities with Kinzhal hypersonic missiles at night in retaliation for Ukrainian attacks on “civilian targets” in Russia. According to the Russian Defense Ministry, this “massive bombing” was a “response to Ukrainian terrorist attacks against civilian targets in Russia.”
For his part, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky noted that a dozen civilian facilities were hit by Russian bombings, which also left thousands of people in seven regions without electricity. “It is important that everyone now sees what Russia is doing (…) because it is obviously not about ending the war,” Zelenskyj said on social networks.
More than 450 drones and 30 missiles
“In total, the enemy deployed more than 450 attack drones and 30 missiles of different types,” the president denounced in a Telegram message. The main blow was again aimed at the Ukrainian energy sector, especially in the south and the Odessa region. In total, more than a dozen civilian facilities across the country were damaged in the Russian attack, the president denounced.
The Ukrainian leader, who will meet with his European partners and the US envoy in Berlin at the weekend, reiterated calls on his partners to strengthen front-line air defense and army capabilities, as well as long-range missiles, and to increase pressure on Russia so that “all our diplomatic efforts bear fruit.”
