The president of the Popular Party of Castile-La Mancha, Paco Núñez, chaired the party’s Christmas meeting in the province of Cuenca, the first to be held in thirteen years without Benjamin Prieto at the head of the provincial organization. In this context, … Núñez supported the management company created with José Antonio Martín-Buro as president and stressed that the PP of Cuenca keeps its doors open to “all those who want to join” the project.
During this event organized at the Museum of Paleontology of Castile-La Mancha and which brought together dozens of “popular” members in Cuenca, the leader of the regional PP assured that this renovation would mean a “the impulse” which is produced “using the statuses“.
Núñez celebrated the creation, for the first time, of the Local Council of the PP of the capital Cuenca, led by Beatriz Jiménezwith the incorporation of nearly 80 people “of all ages, from all neighborhoods and many of them coming directly from civil society”.
The regional president of the PP stressed that this new structure “represents the illusion of a project that wants to offer a better future to Cuenca” to be a cleaner and safer city, with quality public services, with infrastructure that connects with the Levant and with Madrid and real opportunities to retain all the talents “of which this territory is full”.
Núñez expressed his commitment to the development of the city of Cuenca and stressed that coordination between the local PP and the regional PP will be essential to restore to the capital “the political, economic and social importance that it should never have lost.”
“Today, we are starting a new path with a strong Local Council, with 80 people involved and with a president who will be the future mayor,” he concluded.
Four departures from the Cuenca PP board
The last meeting of the Steering Committee of the Popular Party of Cuenca, held last week, took place ended with the departure of four of the 39 members of this body created after the resignation of Benjamín Prieto as president of the ‘populares’ of Cuenca and the arrival of José Martín-Buro as party leader.
“Popular” sources confirmed these departures to Europa Press, one of which corresponds to the mayor of Villar de Cañas, Alejandro Perniaswho had already publicly announced his intention to leave the management company due to his disagreement with the non-convening of a congress to elect a new party president.
As Europa Press was able to confirm, the other three departures correspond to Antonio Oviedo, Leticia Briones and Antonio Medina. In these cases, the reasons that led them to resign from their positions are unknown, but sources from the group critical of the new leadership of the PP of Cuenca believe that it could be due to the contestation of the composition of the leadership by a member.
This “popular” activist filed a complaint with the National Committee for Rights and Guarantees on November 18, emphasizing that the board of directors included unaffiliated people, which, according to his allegations, constitutes an obstacle to membership in the party’s internal organs.
The matter was referred by Genoa to the relevant regional committee, which, on November 27, gave a period of fifteen days to review the composition of the manager and correct it.
The sources consulted therefore suggest that these three departures are due to a movement by the “popular” leadership of Cuenca to correct the contested management company.
