At least two people died after a drone attack hit the Saratov region, Russia, this Saturday (13/12). According to regional governor Roman Busargin, the attack damaged several apartments in a residential building. In contrast, targeted attacks on energy infrastructure have left parts of Ukraine without electricity.
These attacks come amid ceasefire negotiations, brokered by the United States. US President Donald Trump’s special envoy, Steven Witkoff, will meet European leaders and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Berlin.
The Russian Defense Ministry said it shot down around 41 Ukrainian drones over Russian territory overnight.
Governor Busargin said “two people have died” and expressed “condolences to the families and loved ones,” adding that all necessary support will be provided.
Ukraine without electricity
The Ukrainian president said on social media that “all necessary services are currently working to restore electricity and water supplies to our communities that were affected by the Russian attack overnight.”
“Two people were injured in the Odessa region. More than a dozen civilian facilities were damaged throughout the country. Thousands of families remain without electricity after tonight’s attacks in the Kirovohrad, Mykolaiv, Odessa, Sumy, Kharkiv, Kherson and Chernihiv regions,” the Ukrainian president announced.
He said Russia used more than 450 attack drones and 30 missiles of different types.
