A total of 72 people have been arrested by the police and two of them are already in prison.
The investigation, within the framework of Operation Cerbero Lagar, began in June 2025, after the commission of a theft in a branch in the town of Campo Real (Madrid), during which considerable material damage was caused. The agents were able to verify that the members of this gang had acted in different points of Madrid and Toledo, so numerous that once arrested, they are now charged even twenty facts: theft of high-end vehicles, robberies in banks and commercial establishments, falsification of license plates and membership in a criminal group.
During the house searches, 5,000 euros in cash, an imitation pistol, vehicle opening and starting devices, frequency inhibitors and tracking device detectors, among other things, were seized.
Second shot
This operation comes only a month after the Civil Guard also dismantled another group of aluniceros, after committing at least 20 thefts in the Madrid towns of Torrelodones, Arroyomolinos, Navalcarnero and Casarrubuelos, as well as in the provinces of Toledo and Alicante. Made up of five men with varied backgrounds, their favorite targets were bars, restaurants and tobacconists. And instead of attacking cars, they used large mallets to break metal fences and gain access to windows.
Once inside, they broke into cash registers and slot machines and within seconds stole cash, tobacco and valuables which they kept in raffia bags before fleeing. Precisely, the gang used previously stolen large-capacity vehicles, which allowed them to escape quickly and made it difficult for security forces to locate them.
