Atlético wants to recruit a midfielder, but faces resistance from the Argentine club

Atlético’s lower-than-expected results in 2025 have led the board to plan a major restructuring of the squad for next season. Faced with this scenario, the club has already started conversations on the market in search of reinforcements. One of the names that has entered the radars is midfielder Matías Alejandro Galarza, 23, currently in Talleres, Argentina.

However, negotiations are unlikely to progress any faster. The Argentine club shows no interest in facilitating the player’s departure. According to information from Itatiaia, after contacting a source linked to Talleres, the trend is for Galarza to stay at the club at least in the short term.

Prior to Atlético’s interest, Flamengo and Fluminense had already made inquiries for the midfielder, but were met with similar resistance from the Talleres board. Therefore, if they want to move forward in negotiations, Galo will have to step up his efforts to reach an agreement.

Matías Galarza is 23 years old, Argentinian and has made 32 appearances for Talleres, scoring one goal in that time.

Atlético prefers to send Caio Paulista back to Palmeiras

Caio Paulista will not stay at Galo in 2026. The Minas Gerais club preferred not to exercise the option to buy the left back. He will therefore return to Palmeiras after his loan period at Belo Horizonte. After an internal evaluation, coach Jorge Sampaoli and the football department came to the conclusion that he would not be part of the team for next season, according to “Canal do Tanaka”.

Atlético has already communicated its decision to Palmeiras. However, he is also not expected to stay at the Allianz Parque. On the other hand, Alviverde exercised the right of purchase by Bruno Fuchswho will stay in São Paulo and will not return to Atlético.
