
A heritage of Bahian cuisine, Pão Delicia is at the center of a dispute over its maternity. On the one hand, Bahian Elíbia Portela, who has worked for more than 50 years as a culinary, is recognized as its inventor. On the other hand, the Abud family attributes this famous creation which conquered the whole world to the owner Laila Eliazigi Abboud, now deceased.

It all started with the distribution, still reserved for certain press professionals, of the book A História Por Trás da Criação do Pão Delícia, whose launch is scheduled for next Monday (12/15), at the Palacete Tirachapeu. In the work, a simple tribute by seven children to the memory of their mother, the authors, in this case Mrs. Laila Eliazigi Abboud’s own children, claim that she is the inventor of the candy.
