Corinthians fans plan to throw a big party during the second leg of the Brazilian Cup against Cruzeiro, at the Neo Química Arena, at 6 p.m. (Brasilia time) this Sunday (14). Attractions include a 3D mosaic display in the East sector of the stadium. A full house is expected since all tickets have been sold.
According to the Meu Timão portal, 21 pairs of ropes will be suspended from the ceiling of the East sector, indicating that it could be one of the largest mosaics ever created by the stadium’s supporters. It is worth remembering that the last time the Corinthians exhibited a mosaic was in November.
History of Corinthian mosaics
On this occasion the team won the classic against São Paulo 3-1. Before the start of the match, fans created a mosaic with similar characteristics and in the same area of the Neo Química Arena. In this case, the demonstration recalled emblematic episodes of Timão against his rival.
Since the stadium’s inauguration, this will probably be the 37th time that Corinthians fans will display a mosaic. Timão finds himself in a favorable context against Raposa in the fight for a place in the final of the Copa do Brasil. This is because they managed to take the lead after winning the first match 1-0, in Mineirão, last Wednesday (10).
Thus, Memphis Depay’s goal gives the Corinthians the possibility of qualifying for the final of the tournament in the event of a draw or another triumph. If Cruzeiro manages to achieve a positive result with just one goal difference, the place will be determined in the penalty shootout. The Minas Gerais team guarantees a direct ranking if it wins with an advantage of two or more goals.
