In a conversation with Arthur Lira, project rapporteur of the Chamber, the Minister of the Secretariat for Institutional Relations of the Presidency stated that Lula wants to hold a larger event to approve, with all pomp and circumstance, the IR exemption, a campaign promise of 2022. The ceremony should therefore take place next week.
When asked a while ago if there was already a new date planned for the ceremony, Glessi replied that not yet, because Parliament this week is empty and it should also be next week, due to the Black Awareness Day holiday, on November 20. The minister explained:
We believe it is important that the punishment be implemented with the participation of parliamentarians who helped us pass the law. We have a deadline, until the end of November. But by the deadline we will carry out the punishment.
Lula has until the twenty-seventh of this month to approve the law.
