So earlier today it was reported that police were responding to an ongoing incident at Bondi Beach in the Sydney area and had asked the public to avoid the area. “Those at the scene should seek shelter,” New South Wales Police posted on X.
A spokesperson for the Australian Prime Minister confirmed that “we are aware of an active security situation in Bondi” and asked citizens to follow police instructions.
Local media such as the Sydney Morning Herald reported that several gunshots had been reported at the famous beach, but it was unclear whether anyone was injured.
