
Three women, Melania RodrÃguez, Marta López and Loreto Tuñón, won this Saturday the first medal for the Spanish delegation at the World Trampoline Championship. The bronze obtained in the women’s category of the DMT (mini double trampoline) event made the Arena Navarra in Pamplona vibrate, where the three gymnasts reached the podium behind only the United States (gold) and Great Britain (silver). Spain’s performance also occurred on a day when the first medals of the World Cup, which is being held for the first time in our country, were at stake.
In the competition of fallingAzerbaijan in the men’s category and France in the women’s category managed to finish in first place. The Azeri trio of Mikhail Malkin, Togif Aliyev and Adil Hakizada led the race ahead of the United States and Denmark. The Americans had West Fowler, Kaden Brown and Xavier Harper in their ranks, while the Danish flag was defended by Magnus Lindholmer, Martin Abildgaard and Marius Bundgaard.
Previously, it was the French women’s team that opened the medal table with gold for Maelie Abadie, Candy Briere-Vetillard, Maelle Dumitru-Marin and Manon Morancais. Silver went to Great Britain with Megan Kealy, Jaeda-Lei Jeffers, Naana Oppon and Alisha Evanson, while bronze went to Belgium thanks to Fran Renders, Sara Neyrinck, Lani Spiessens and Marth Renders.
Two golds for the United States
The DMT had another important event with the men’s team final, where the United States team made up of Trevor Harder, Simon Smith, Ruben Padilla and West Fowler climbed to the top of the podium, flanked by Troy Sitkowski, Rohan Wilcox, Nicolas Diaz Ballas and Matthew French representing Australia, while in third place was the team of neutral athletes (2) made up of Mikhail Iurev, Mikhail Zalomin, Dmitrii Nartov and Kirill Panteleev. The Spanish team made up of Miguel Córdoba, Carlos del Ser, Nuño Fillafañe and Nicolas Toribio finished in sixth place.
In turn, the women’s final elevated the North Americans Aliah Raga, Kennedi Roberts and Grace Harder, who together with the British Kim Beattie, Kirsty Way and Molly McKenna accompanied the Spanish team to the podium.
The fight for gold in synchronized trampolining continues
Eight couples continue to fight for glory in the synchronized trampoline category. In men, Andrei Builou and Ivan Litvinovich achieved the best score in the semi-finals, while in women it was China’s Yicheng Hu and Xinxin Zhang. Finally, in the mixed event, the pair formed by North Americans Cheyenne Sarah Webster and Ryan Maccagnan dominated.
A Friday that opened with the falling in men’s singles, 24 names already have direct access to Saturday’s semifinals; on the same day that the world champion is decided. With the results obtained, Mikhail Malkin, from Azerbaijan, took the lead with 59.2 thousand points, followed by the American Kaden Brown (58.1 thousand) and the Azerbaijani Tofig Aliyev (57.6 thousand); three gymnasts who a few hours later would bathe in gold and silver in teams.
