Police in New South Wales, Australia, confirmed a tragic event on Sydney’s busy Bondi Beach in which a shooting attack left at least ten people dead.
The official death toll is that nine citizens lost their lives in the incident. Added to this number is an armed man who was killed by security forces at the scene.
In addition, the number of injured reportedly stands at 11 people, including two police officers who were injured in the operation.
Authorities have set up a security perimeter to allow specialized teams to investigate “several suspicious objects” found in the area. Police have clarified that at this time there is no evidence that there have been any violent incidents in other areas of Sydney related to this attack.
Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese described the images and scene in Bondi as “shocking and disturbing” and expressed his dismay at the tragedy that occurred this Sunday in the popular tourist destination.
