The mother of a 12-year-old student at Colégio Pedro II, in the Centro unit, denounces the school’s negligence in the face of the successive racist attacks to which her son was the victim in class. The student has previously been called “monkey,” “monkey,” “princess,” and other insults by the same group of students. Despite the insults, the boy listened in silence and never commented on anything at home. “He who opens his mouth will be called X-9,” they said.
The mother was informed of the attacks by the management itself, but was surprised to find that the attackers were unhurt. “The mother of one of them didn’t even know what had happened. They didn’t receive a warning, they weren’t suspended. And what’s worse: my son was not the only victim,” laments the student’s mother. “Racism is a crime.”
