The information was revealed by the NBC site, which cited a source linked to the family.
The discovery of two people dead in the home of Reiner, director of “Harry and Sally” and “A Question of Honor”, was revealed by local television station NBCLA and other media.
NBC cited a source close to the family as saying the couple was found dead, apparently injured by a sharp weapon. CNN reported that a family spokesperson confirmed the deaths of Reiner and his wife.
Los Angeles police have not confirmed the identities of the victims, but said they are investigating a death.
— No one has been arrested, no one is being questioned as a suspect — said Los Angeles Deputy Police Chief Alan Hamilton: — I will not confirm whether anyone is currently being questioned or not. We will try to speak to as many family members as possible.
Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass also said an investigation was underway.
— I am heartbroken by the tragic loss of Rob and his wife Michele. I knew Rob and I have a lot of respect for him. Actor, director, producer, writer and committed political activist, he has always put his talents at the service of others,” he declared.
Reiner rose to fame as an actor as the bumbling son-in-law Michael “Meathead” Stivic on the 1970s sitcom “All in the Family,” before turning to directing with “This Is Spinal Tap,” a satirical documentary released in 1984.
In 1989, he directed and starred in the romantic comedy “Harry and Sally”, with Billy Crystal and Meg Ryan.
