
Bahia security forces launched, in the early hours of this Monday morning (12/15), Operation Costa Segura, aimed at combating a criminal faction with interstate operations in Bahia and Paraíba.
The action is coordinated by the Public Security Secretariat of Bahia (SSP-BA) and involves the Civil Police, Military Police and members of the Integrated Forces to Combat Organized Crime (Ficco) of Bahia, Ilhéus and Paraíba, in addition to the Prison Administration Secretariat (Seap).

Arrest, search and seizure warrants are executed simultaneously in both states.
In total, more than 200 agents are participating in the action which aims to dismantle the financial, logistical and operational structure of the criminal organization.
The operation also benefits from the support of the Federal Police, the Southern Regional Police Command (CPR-South), the Regional Directorate of Internal Police – DIRPIN Sul and specialized units of the penitentiary system.
According to the SSP, the faction under investigation is responsible for crimes such as drug trafficking and homicides, and has branches in the cities of Bahia and Paraíba.
To date, no official report on prisoners or seizures has been published.
