Vanega died after he was repeatedly stabbed by a mob attacking him at the exit of a graduate party in a house on the outskirts of San Salvador de Jujuy. Two teenagers are arrested over the incident: a young man the same age as the victim and a 16-year-old girl.
The crime occurred at dawn on Saturday in the Túpac Amaru neighborhood in Alto Comedero, causing great excitement in the provincial capital. According to the first reconstructions, Vanega and a 13-year-old friend were leaving the party to buy alcoholic drinks at a nearby store when they were intercepted by a group of young people who attacked them almost without a word.
Witnesses stated that it was a direct attack and that the killers used a knife. The young man suffered multiple stab wounds and suffered multiple injuries to his body. Although he tried to escape, he could not and fell dead about 20 meters away. The main version says that the fight was “a territorial struggle between districts.”.
“There were many boys entering and leaving the house where the party was held, but when one was attacked and they saw the blood, they fled to different places,” said a neighbor who witnessed the bloody scene. The Investigation Directorate of Regional Unit 7 and the Public Prosecutor’s Office conducted a search operation in the Alto Comedero district and found the two minors suspected of murder. The teenagers were handed over to the investigation brigade in the presence of their parents and the public prosecutor ordered the case to be transferred to the juvenile court, which will continue the investigation and formal charges against the arrested teenagers.
