Spanish engineering has very low profit margins in the national market, which clearly reduces its ability to pay its professional staff, especially the youngest. If we also lose our job portfolio due to situations like the one mentioned in this article because of Ineco, the end result is that our young people choose to direct their professional lives towards other areas of activity than engineering, as is already the case today. It is obvious that without engineers it will not be possible to have engineering companies.
He Spanish economic fabric of private capital engineering has been able to occupy a hegemonic position in the world by providing the required services in adequate conditions of quality, quantity, regularity, security of delivery and competitive prices, and ensuring that many Spanish companies are highly recognized throughout the world. Private engineering companies, like any private company in other sectors, need contracts to structure, maintain and develop their professional staff and to develop a competitive and modern economic sector, with a strong international presence. But it’s not just that anymore. Furthermore, Ineco, with public money, competes with Spanish private equity companies abroad. As an example, from Tecniberia we want to denounce a contract for the supervision of studies, project and construction of the ring road of Lima (Peru), with a budget of 130 million dollars, called by Ositran (Organization for Control of Investments in Transport Infrastructure for Public Use). 53 companies applied for the contract and, after selection, only four groups remained:
– Group of two Korean companies including one Peruvian.
– Group of a Spanish, French and Colombian company.
– Group of a Spanish company with a Brazilian company.
– Group formed by Ineco with a Peruvian and Colombian engineer.
The four groups obtained a very similar technical score, making the economic score decisive. And this is where the biggest grievance arises, given that Ineco is able to formulate an economic offer $15 million cheaper than the lowest economic offer of the two groups where the Spanish private equity companies are based. It should not be possible for us to deprive Spanish private companies of the possibility of participating in international contracts financed by public money. Let us preserve the general interest of citizens, the economy and society in general.
