The government of Tarcísio de Freitas (SP) ignored a bill in progress in the State Legislative Assembly since March by sending, last Wednesday (10), an urgent proposal that benefits motorcycles used by app delivery people.
Tarcísio’s project exempts from IPVA vehicles with up to 150 engine capacity, including those used by these workers. It’s a nod to a category that has gained economic and electoral strength in recent years and is expected to be the theme of next year’s election campaign.
The existing project is that of State Deputy Beth Sahão (PT), which provides for a slightly wider scope for the exemption, up to 170 bottles. According to the parliamentarian, this includes the models most used by delivery people.
“I am happy that the governor has paid attention to this measure, with an important social impact, since it is the most accessible type of motorized transport. Hence its relevance for users in general and in particular for the thousands of self-employed workers who use these models,” said the deputy.
