The disappearance of a 55-year-old Brazilian woman in Portugal mobilized her family members in Brazil in search of information. Born in Aracoiaba, Ceará, Lucinete Freitas lives alone in Amadora, in the Lisbon metropolitan area. The family began to worry after the sudden loss of contact with them in early December.

Lucinete’s last contact with her husband, Teodoro Júnior, who lives in Fortaleza, took place on the night of December 5, around 7:30 p.m. Brazilian time — 10:30 p.m. in Portugal, according to information from TV Verdes Mares. Since then, messages and calls from family members have gone unanswered.
According to Teodoro, Lucinete had an appointment planned for the following Saturday: a visit to an apartment that could be rented by the family. This project was part of his and his son’s plan to move to Portugal in 2026. However, the person responsible for the property reported that she was not present. Before that, Lucinete had sent a message saying she would go to the Algarve, in the south of the country, accompanied by a friend.
After this communication, the husband attempted to contact her several times. He claims some messages were viewed but not responded to, and calls were not answered. Concern grows in the face of the silence.
— After that, I sent messages, she saw them, but didn’t respond. I called several times and there was no answer. That’s when I realized something was wrong — he told Verdes Mares.
The family says they have no information about the alleged friend Lucinete mentioned. Teodoro claims not to know who this person could be and describes the situation as enigmatic.
— This is the great mystery. We don’t know who this person is.
Lucinete’s boss, for whom she works as a nanny, also spoke to the family. He said that on another occasion she appeared accompanied by a young woman, introduced as a friend she had met on the bus. For the husband, the finding is compatible with his wife’s social profile.
— She is very open, she makes friends easily — said her husband.
Faced with the disappearance, Teodoro said he sought institutional support, contacting the Brazilian embassy and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to officially notify the case. But so far, he says he has received no concrete response from the authorities.
