The arrest took place after failure to comply with electronic surveillance during Operation Verão Total
The Rio Grande do Sul Criminal Police arrested, early this afternoon (13), a fugitive from justice in Capão da Canoa, on the north coast. The man was the subject of an open arrest warrant, motivated by non-compliance with electronic surveillance measures.
The capture was carried out by the Special Actions Group (Gaes), with the support of employees of the Department of Electronic Surveillance (DME), the Criminal Institute of Electronic Surveillance of the 1st Penitentiary Region (IPME-1) and the Department of Security and Criminal Execution. The action took place shortly after the official opening of Operation Verão Total.
The operation provides for the strengthening of security on the northern and southern coasts of Rio Grande do Sul, with the intensification of inspections of house arrests, the expansion of surveillance of electronically monitored prisoners and an increase in searches of penitentiary establishments during the summer season.
The measures aim to strengthen preventive actions and comply with court decisions during the period of greatest movement of residents and tourists in the region.
