President Lula (PT) downplayed recent frictions with Congress and attributed the lack of approval of certain management projects in Parliament to the political articulation of his government. In a speech this Monday (15), the PT deputy lowered his tone compared to previous public speeches since the recent frictions.
“I wanted to tell you that I am very grateful for everything that Congress has done for us during these three years of government, both in the Senate and the House,” he said. “Which was not approved, perhaps because we did not have the capacity to convince them to approve it.”
At the same time, Lula also highlighted the ideological issue as an obstacle to approvals and reaffirmed that overturning his veto of the environmental licensing bill harms farmers, during an event with businessmen and representatives of the sector. Without a veto, the legislation on environmental rules was relaxed.
These statements were made during the participation of the president and ministers in the inauguration of the new headquarters of Apex Brasil (Brazilian Export and Investment Promotion Agency), in Brasilia.
“I also want to thank Congress for its efforts, especially regarding the approved tax reform,” he said.
In his speeches, Lula also discussed his interest in taking businesswomen to South Korea because of the Asian country’s aesthetic market.
The event marked the opening of 500 new international markets between 2023 and 2025, under the leadership of the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock and in the presence of Minister Carlos Fávaro. Alongside him, the Vice President and Minister of Industry, Commerce and Services, Geraldo Alckmin, and the Minister of Family Agriculture, Paulo Teixeira, also participated.
