The political crisis in São Paulo opened a new chapter this Monday (12/15). Opposition councilors have filed a request for the provisional dismissal of President Julio Casares, after complaints were published regarding the irregular sale of boxes at the MorumBis stadium during shows.
The initiative is supported by the Salve o Tricolor Paulista movement, which claims to have already collected enough signatures to bring the matter before the club’s Deliberative Council. According to the statute, 20% of board members must register – currently 52 names – for the application to be formally analyzed.
The opposition’s offensive is based on a report published by ge, which revealed audio and documents of an alleged scheme to divert revenues linked to boxes used at events at the stadium. The material mentions Douglas Schwartzmann, then deputy director of youth categories, and Mara Casares, women’s, cultural and events director.
In the released recordings, Douglas admits that those involved in the project made a financial gain. He asked to leave his post after the fallout from the affair. Mara Casares, ex-wife of the club president, also temporarily left her administrative functions.
The audios also mention the superintendent of São Paulo, Márcio Carlomagno, who was included in the preventive eviction request presented by the councilors. For the group, this measure is necessary to avoid any interference in the internal investigation.
Another point highlighted by the opposition is the location of the lodge mentioned in the complaints, identified in club documents as the “presidential room” and located opposite the president’s office. According to advisers, this detail reinforces questions about the club’s senior management’s knowledge of the facts.
After the protocol, the request will be forwarded to the President of the Deliberative Council, Olten Ayres. If it is deemed admissible by the competent committees, the precautionary withdrawal may be submitted to a vote by the councilors.
