Flávio Bolsonaro (PL-RJ) announced his pre-candidacy for the presidency of the Republic last week. He claims he was chosen by his father, Jair Bolsonaro, to run in the 2026 elections, after rumors that the former president would nominate former first lady Michelle Bolsonaro for the election ballot.
The senator said Bolsonaro made the decision at a time when he was under pressure to nominate a pre-candidate for president to unify Brazil’s right and said he was chosen because of his political trajectory.
“Three times he had said that I would be a candidate, that he had confidence in me, that I was ready. I was a parliamentarian for four terms as a deputy in Rio. I am a lawyer, I have a degree in entrepreneurship and new business, I have a degree in public policy of government and, in the four years that I was alongside my father in the Presidency of the Republic, I learned a lot from mistakes and successes”, said Flávio in an interview with the YouTube channel. Léo DiasTV.
Flávio also guarantees that his name as a pre-candidate has not caused any rift in the family and claims to have good relations with the former first lady. “I’m the son who gets along best with Michelle. I don’t have any problems. I think she’s a very important asset.”
He also said he had no plans to put Michelle on the ticket with him. “It would be a waste, there is already a Bolsonaro on the ticket.”
