The Minister of the Supreme Federal Court (STF), Alexandre de Moraes, has scheduled the medical examination for December 17 that will assess the state of health of former President Jair Bolsonaro. The decree was published this Monday 15.
The order states that during the medical examination conducted on November 22 to comply with the arrest warrant, there was no indication of any condition that would warrant the need for immediate surgical intervention.
Moraes also pointed out that the tests presented by the defense are not up to date and at the time they were performed did not indicate the need for urgent surgery.
Before setting the date of the examination, the minister had already authorized, at the request of the lawyers, that examinations be carried out in the premises of the Federal Superintendence of Police of the Federal District. Now he has ordered that copies of all examinations and reports be sent to the experts responsible for the assessment.
The examination will be carried out by federal police experts from the National Institute of Forensic Science. After this stage, the process must immediately return to its conclusion for a new decision by the rapporteur.
The defense of the former president again requested, this Monday, the STF for authorization to carry out a surgical intervention and the granting of house arrest, on the grounds of the worsening state of health of the former president.
The lawyers argue that recent examinations would indicate the need for surgery and that the treatment could not be carried out in a closed regime.
In the order, Moraes emphasizes, however, that there is, to date, no official medical evidence justifying the adoption of exceptional measures. The minister stressed that the assessment of a possible surgical intervention or a change in the regime of execution of the sentence will depend on the result of the official medical examination.
