US President Donald Trump has filed a defamation lawsuit against the BBC over its editing of his January 6, 2021 speech in a Panorama TV documentary.
Trump has sought billions of dollars in damages, according to court documents filed in Florida.
The BBC apologized to Trump in November but rejected his claims for damages, and the corporation did not agree there was “a basis for a defamation claim.”
Trump’s legal team accused the BBC of defaming him through “deliberate, malicious and misleading manipulation of his speech.”
The BBC has not yet responded to the lawsuit filed in Florida.
