After the removal of the Minister of the STF, Alexandre de Moraes, from the list of people sanctioned by the Magnitsky law, members of the Lula government now hope that the United States will return the visas to the Brazilian authorities.
Lula’s collaborators admit, however, that this process should take a little longer. The reason would be the influence of the American Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, who is handling the issue and has a more ideological position.

“Visas are more complicated because they depend on Rubio. The State Department has the most ideological wing. In other words, it will come out, but it will take time,” commented in the column a minister of Lula who follows the subject.

Among the Brazilian authorities who lost their visas are the ministers of the STF, Gilmar Mendes, and Edson Fachin, current president of the Court, as well as the Attorney General of the Republic, Paulo Gonet.
From the Lula government, the Minister of the Attorney General of the Union (AGU), Jorge Messias, and members of the family of the current Minister of Health, Alexandre Padilha, were sanctioned by the United States with the revocation of their visas.
