The Generalitat of Catalonia activated the alert this afternoon due to the risk of flooding in the metropolitan area of Barcelona and in particular in the city of Barcelona, where persistent rains have been a problem since the first hour of the afternoon. The Catalan Meteorological Service has issued a warning for intense downpours that could accumulate more than 100 liters per square meter in the northern area of the Barcelona metropolitan area, particularly in the city of Badalona. The warning recommends avoiding unnecessary travel and calls for extreme caution.
In the afternoon, some metro stations were affected by water leaks and minor flooding on the roads. On the Ronda Litoral, the B-10 road, traffic near Santa Coloma de Gramenet heading north has been cut off due to the accumulation of water, causing serious traffic problems throughout the area.
In the town of Badalona, the Màgic shopping center suffered imperfections following the breakage of some crystals. Many streets in the coastal area of the population were also flooded, leaving the Alcantarilla network unable to provide water.
During the day, the Generalitat firefighters also received more than 130 calls due to water accumulations in low water and other incidents, especially around Barcelona. At Sants de Barcelona station, water filtration also caused problems in waiting rooms and in some ticket validation machines.
