The National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC) published the notice containing the rules for the simplified auction of the Tom Jobim International Airport, in Rio de Janeiro, better known as Galeão.
The document predicts that the auction will take place in March next year, with a minimum bid of 932 million reais and a variable contribution of 20% on gross revenues until 2039.
It also includes the departure of Infraero, which holds 49% of the shares, before the auction, the exclusion of the obligation to build a third runway and the creation of a compensation mechanism in the event of restrictions on Santos Dumont.

If there are no interested investors, the auction will allow RIOGaleão to continue operating the airport. The solution was developed by the government, Anac and the Federal Court of Auditors (TCU) with the aim of solving the financial problem of the airport.
According to the Minister of Ports and Airports, Silvio Costa Filho, the notice represents an institutional step for the airport concession.
“It is hoped that the next operator will be able to ensure the level and quality of service established by the contract, as well as promote the development of the airport and of Rio de Janeiro, through the expansion of the city’s national and international connectivity. With this new step, the government of President Lula reaffirms its commitment to transforming Galeão into a competitive international hub,” he said in a statement.
