The National Police of Cádiz, as part of the controls established at the Tarifa border post for exit from the Schengen area, prevented a woman from leaving the country towards Tangier (Morocco) with her three minor children, … that they had various indicators of international protection since the mother did not have custody of them.
The minors were detected on December 11 with their mother in the port of Tarifa and, after carrying out the corresponding documentary checks, the existence of various indications filed by the French authorities via the Sirene system, the Police indicated in a note.
From this arises the need to adopt protective measures. According to information provided by the French authorities, the mother, with full knowledge of the ongoing legal proceedings, would have removed the minors on November 21 with the aim of evading the action of European Justice by transferring them outside the community sphere.
The minors had previously been removed from custody due to alleged assault suffered, after which they were placed under the supervision of French social services.
The Police indicated that the relevance of this action highlights the importance of border controls as a “fundamental tool” for the success of international cooperation, particularly in the area of child protection, as well as for the effectiveness of Sirene, aimed at combating transnational crime.
Thanks to the intervention of the Police, the three children were entrusted to their mother and made available to social services for their protection, with the knowledge and authorization of the Public Prosecutor’s Office for the Protection of Minors, which continues the necessary procedures to determine their final situation.
