Born in San Adrian (Navarra) in 1948, he worked as a photojournalist for TVE for 39 years. Evaristo Canetti was the king of time-lapses when it came to photography and a reference for the past half-century on public television. During the eruption of the Nevado de Ruiz volcano in Colombia, 40 years ago, he took the first photographs of the girl Omera Sanchez, the symbol of that tragedy.
During the six hours we spent there, we tried to get the girl out, but it was impossible to move her because her legs were trapped between the cement blocks.
