
Angelina Jolie showed her double mastectomy scars for the first time that she underwent more than ten years ago, a decision that made her an example in the fight against cancer.
He did so in the first issue of the French edition of Time, launched this week. “I share these scars with many women I love. And it always moves me to see other women share theirs. I want to join them,” he comments in the magazine alongside a pose that reveals the traces of the operation.
Even though it’s the first time he’s showing them, it doesn’t say much about his decision. In 2013, the actress’ comments in an article published in The New York Times They traveled around the world.
“I wanted to write this to explain to other women that the decision to have a mastectomy was not easy.. But now I’m very happy that I did it,” she said of her decision to have a double mastectomy.
“My chance of developing breast cancer went from 87% to less than 5%. Now I can tell my children that they don’t have to worry about losing me to breast cancer,” she explained.
