The damage occurred during a flight departing from Fort Lauderdale, United States, with a connection in Campinas. According to the lawsuit, the passenger became angry after another traveler refused to change seats and then destroyed the television set up at his seat. The loss was estimated at US$461.43 (approximately R$2,600).
Azul immediately repaired the plane and took the case to the criminal court. During the process, the passenger decided to sign a Non-Criminal Prosecution Agreement (ANPP), in which he agrees to pay the full amount of the repair and deposit R$6,072.00 with an entity related to civil aviation. The company was represented by criminal lawyer Leonardo Magalhães Avelar.
