The Arkose climbing wall, in collaboration with the NGO International Cooperation, invited a group of 23 boys and girls in vulnerable situations to a climbing day at their center in Carabanchel (Madrid).
The aim was to give minors the opportunity to get to know climbing better, one of the fastest growing sports in Spain, characterized by its benefits for self-esteem, concentration and anxiety management.
With this vision, Arkose organized a special day where participants could discover climbing for the first time and experience its physical and emotional benefits. The introductory experience allowed children to experience a safe, inclusive and fun space in which they could progress at their own pace.
“At Arkose, we strongly believe in the power of sport to change people’s lives. This event was born out of a desire to open our facilities to young people and children who might not have the opportunity to learn about climbing, and offer them an activity that will help them gain confidence, overcome challenges and work as a team,” said Grégoire de Belmont, General Manager of Arkose.
For her part, the director of international cooperation projects, Teresa Martín Aguado, emphasized the value of the initiative. “Activities like these allow us to provide children with experiences that broaden their horizons and promote their all-round development. Climbing is not just a sport, but a tool for learning, overcoming challenges, gaining self-confidence and having fun working as a team,” he said.
In addition to its social impact, this action strengthens the “commitment” of Arkose, which has two centers in Carabanchel and Cuatro Caminos in the Spanish capital, to the local community, well-being and access to sport as an educational tool.
