Brussels, December 15 (EFECOM). – Industrial production rose by 0.8% in the euro area in October and by 0.3% in the European Union as a whole compared to September, in both cases due to increases in the production of consumer durables and energy.
Year-on-year production rose by 2% and 1.9% respectively, also boosted by growth in the energy sector, according to data published on Monday by the municipal statistics office Eurostat.
In the case of Spain, the rate increased by 0.9% compared to September and by 1.4% compared to October 2024, in both cases exceeding the increase in the previous month.
Month-on-month production increased in all product groups, particularly consumer durables (2% in the Eurozone and 1.8% in the EU), followed by energy (1.1% and 1%, respectively).
The production of consumer goods (0.3% each) and the production of intermediate goods (0.3% each) and capital production (0.5% each) also increased.
Among the Community partners, the largest monthly increases in industrial production were observed in Ireland (4%), Luxembourg (3.6%) and Croatia (3.1%), while the largest decreases were recorded in Sweden (-6.5%), Belgium (-3.4%) and Denmark (-3.2%).
In this case, compared to October 2024, the largest production increases were recorded in consumer goods (4.9% in the Eurozone and 4.4% in the EU) and energy (4.5 and 3.4%).
Growth in the production of durable consumer goods (0.7% in the euro area and 0.5% in the bloc), capital goods (0.5 and 1.1%) and intermediate goods (0.5% each) was much lower.
Ireland and Latvia (both 8.7%), Greece (6.9%) and Sweden (5.7%) recorded the largest increases in industrial production, according to Eurostat, while Bulgaria (-7.6%), Slovakia (-3.7%) and Hungary (-2.6%) recorded the largest year-on-year declines, according to Eurostat. EFECOM
