With 25 points from Jalen Brunson and 28 from British OG Anunoby, the New York Knicks beat the San Antonio Spurs on Tuesday night (16) by 124 to 113 and won the 2025 NBA Cup title, the team’s first title in 52 years.
In the final, played at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Brunson and Anunoby had support from center Mitchell Robinson, who came off the bench and finished the game with 15 rebounds, including ten on offense.
Additionally, Dominican Karl-Anthony Towns had a double-double in the decision, with 16 points and 11 rebounds.
The Knicks follow the Los Angeles Lakers in 2023 and the Milwaukee Bucks last year as the top three tournament champions.
“All of our players took the tournament seriously,” coach Mike Brown said after winning the NBA Cup. “Any time you have an opportunity to hang a championship banner at Madison Square Garden, you go out there and fight to get it,” he added.
Brunson, 29 and winner of the Finals MVP award, recorded a 41 percent shooting efficiency from the field (11 of 27 attempts) and made eight assists.
