After the arrival of the military, people informed the company that, on the same day, a man in his thirties had been seen walking in the neighborhood with a stroller. However, they were unable to provide officers with any other characteristics of the suspect.
Until the police arrived, residents welcomed the child, changed diapers, put on clothes and offered him a bottle. Still according to the police, after the rescue, the baby was transported to the municipal maternity hospital of Contagem, in a stable state of health. At the unit, the child was under the care of a social worker.
In the early hours of Wednesday, officers were called by the social worker, who reported that a woman had turned up at the maternity ward claiming to be the child’s mother.
According to the woman, she left the house around 2 p.m., leaving her son in the care of his father, who was apparently able to care for the child. When he returned to the residence, around 10 p.m., he found neither his partner nor his son. Shortly after, he arrived, but without the child. When questioned, he would have said stupid things. The woman then leaves in search of her son.
People informed her that a police officer had taken the child to the hospital. According to the officers, the mother was taken to the police station to make a statement and clarify the facts.
Minas Gerais Civil Police announced that they had opened an investigation and the matter remains under investigation. Until the publication of this article, the baby was in the care of the hospital unit’s Guardianship Council.
