The European Parliament on Wednesday approved an EU deal to delay the application of the anti-deforestation law by a year, until December 2026, removing the penultimate legal obstacle before the postponement can be turned into law.
Parliament voted in favor of the postponement, with 405 parliamentarians for, 242 against and 8 abstentions.
The postponement still requires formal approval from EU countries, which are expected to approve the deal without changes later this week.
