Nearly a thousand people went to the Primatial Cathedral of Toledo to attend the traditional Christmas Concert, a musical solidarity event whose funds will be used for social purposes. The recital brought together the sopranos Ainhoa Arteta and Montserrat Martí Caballé … baritone Luis Santana and pianist Luis Carbajo, in a show that lasted an hour and a half.
Throughout the concert, The performers offered nearly twenty musical piecescombining individual interventions and shared moments. The repertoire included works such as “Aleluya,” a song from the opera La Luna composed by the former Mecano member. Jose Maria Canowho was present at the concert, as well as “Oda a Belén” and “El Pastorcillo”, all linked to the Christmas repertoire.
The evening ended with the joint interpretation of a mix of popular Christmas songs, among which ‘Vamos a Belén’ and other melodies widely known to the public were played. In this last part, the participants stood up, accompanying the artists by clapping and singing in unison.
The program also included musical versions of famous Christmas-themed radio and television advertisements decades past, like “The Wolf, What a Great Nougat”, which aroused the complicit reaction of the public.
Among the concert participants was the Primate Archbishop of Toledo, Francisco Cerro.in an event that once again united music, tradition and solidarity in the main temple of the archdiocese.
The funds raised will be used to purchase of food and basic necessities, that the “Virgen del Sagrario” Center distributed to the most needy families throughout the archdiocese.
