He Plenary session of Palma City Hall approved this Thursday a Vox motion, supported by the PP, which declares the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, ‘persona non grata’ and demands his resignation and the calling of general elections, in a text which describes him as a “despicable character”.
The motion cites two previous: that of the Municipal Council of Pontevedra in 2016, when the municipal council, with a progressive majority, declared former president Mariano Rajoy “persona non grata” for the paper factory located at the foot of the estuary, and for that of the municipality of Albacete last month, with the support of Vox and PP, he did the same with Sánchez.
Vox spokesperson Fulgencio Coll described the president of the government as “a 21st century autocrat“which is “bogged down by corruption.” Coll criticized the fact that Sánchez had “given everything to his separatist partners to continue one more day in Moncloa.”“It’s time to kick this character out of government.”supported the spokesperson for Vox, who insulted this “setting of sewers, brothels, harassers and bites”.
From the PP, councilor Llorenç Bauzá declared that “corruption cannot be normalized” and that, with a new electoral appointment, Spanish society “must turn the page” on this subject “succession of scandals“that affect Sánchez, his government and his party. Podemos abstained and failed to include in the text an amendment for the Palma plenary to publicly condemn “the genocide” of the Palestinian people perpetrated by the State of Israel and its president, Benjamin Netanyahu.
Més per Palma and the PSOE voted against. The spokesperson for the sovereignists, Neus Truyol, indicated that Vox’s goal with its proposal is none other than “remove the tension drums”. Finally, the socialist spokesperson, Francisco Ducrós, argued that this motion is “unworthy“e”illegal» and regretted that the PP had “assumed” the discourse of the “ultra-right”.
Ducros has recalled the numerous cases of corruption that affected the Balearic PP in previous legislatures and added that even the party’s president, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, “went on vacation on a drug trafficker’s boat.”
