As the series nears its end, with the penultimate episode premiering this Friday, December 19, 2025, Vesga’s role has taken on unexpected relevance. The Bogota native was previously known for his work in sincere love And Hijacking of Flight 601plays Manousos Oviedo, a Colombian who emigrated to Paraguay and who, along with the American writer Carol Sturka, is one of the few who are immune to the radical change in humanity that the plot tells.
Vesga told The Colombian that for the construction of Manousos it was important to understand the migration experience and its emotional consequences: “The loss, the fear, the uncertainty and the trauma that comes with it. All of this, to me, largely explains why Manousos reacts the way he does and takes the position he does in the face of this phenomenon that is taking over the world.”

The series consists of nine episodes and stars Rhea Seehorn, who previously worked with Gilligan You better call Saul– delves into a dystopia in which humanity must be saved from happiness by the unluckiest person on the planet. Vesga, chosen among 686 actors aspiring for the role of Manousos, was one of the five finalists and was ultimately chosen as the protagonist. The actor confessed that he initially sent his auditions in Spanish and English, not knowing that it was a project of this magnitude or that it was related to Gilligan.
The character of Manousos is characterized by his silence and depth, gradually revealing his importance in the story. Vesga emphasized that aside from the accent, a special feature was Manousos’ devotion to the Virgin of Carmen – Colombia’s national patron saint – which can be seen in a small picture in the mirror of his car. Regarding the selection process, the actor emphasized: “He was selected among the five finalists and ultimately chosen as one of the protagonists.”
Beyond its technical calculation, Pluribus raised philosophical questions among the audience and the performers. Vesga shared that while filming, both he and Seehorn pondered questions such as the possibility of being wise and innocent at the same time, to which he responded, “No, one condition cancels the other.” He also touched on the concept of happiness, explaining, “Personally, as an artist, I’ve always believed that it’s within you.” For the actor, the series stands out because “it doesn’t tell you what to think, but rather makes you think.” It’s a wonderful show because it has many layers: you can stick with just one or read several. It raises deep and transcendental questions.”

Before this project, Vesga considered a career in Hollywood unattainable. “I hadn’t even dreamed of getting there because it was something that just wasn’t going to happen. In my equation that didn’t exist: that they would come looking for a Colombian in Colombia. And that wasn’t because I was an idiot, but because I knew that wouldn’t happen,” he explained to the aforementioned media.
Currently, Vesga is not projecting any new horizons outside of the series. His attention is on the second season of Pluribus and by performing at their best and postponing any decision about their professional future until later.
