Students at Paulo Freire High School claim their requests for quotas were rejected under the Serial Assessment Program (SAP) following a mistake by the public school management.
According to reports, the educational establishment located in Asa Norte (DF) did not send documents proving the completion of secondary studies in the public network, a mandatory condition for students to compete for the reserved places at the University of Brasilia (UnB).
According to the students, the situation was identified after the publication of the list of candidates eligible for public school quotas. Some students were considered rejected and ended up competing in the general competition.
PAS quotas are places reserved for public school students, black, mixed race, indigenous, disabled or low-income students.

A 17-year-old student said he noticed the problem while checking the results on the organizing committee’s website. “When Cebraspe published the list of people admitted to the public school quota system, I realized that my name was not on it,” he said.
“When I checked the reason on the website itself, I found that my situation was ‘rejected’ because the documents presented did not prove that I had completed the first and second year of high school in a public school,” he added.
The student said he feared the rejection would end his dream of getting into college right after finishing high school. “Now, without being able to compete through the public school quota system, this path has become even more difficult,” he said.

Initially, the student thought it was an isolated case, but similar reports emerged from the school’s parent and guardian group. “My family and I tried to contact the school and received the same response in the WhatsApp group. Given the situation, we even considered taking the matter to court,” he reported.
Another student said she felt wronged when her application was rejected due to public school quotas and low income. “I’m disappointed. It was the last year of a three-year selection process that I put all my energy into,” she said.
“Failing to meet the quotas could cost me my approval at UnB, which is a dream of mine and a great opportunity in life,” he said.
The director apologizes
The students claim that the school management only spoke out this Tuesday (16/12), through a message sent by the deputy director, Aline Maia, in a WhatsApp group of “Terceirão”: “Hello everyone, whoever needs a statement, come to school tomorrow”.
According to the students, the school’s measure would not resolve the situation, because the Cebraspe system does not allow the inclusion of new documents after the appeal has been opened. The deadline for filing appeals expired at 6 p.m. last Wednesday (12/17), and the committee has until December 29 to analyze the requests.
“It’s sad to have to go through yet another moment of anxiety over something simple, which is my right,” said one of the students concerned.
When contacted, the director of the Paulo Freire Secondary Education Center, Roberta Talyuili, informed that all measures adopted by the school were in accordance with the guidelines of the State Department of Education of the Federal District (SEEDF), and apologized to the school community for this error.
“The field for issuing a declaration for external evaluations was only made available in the Educa DF system at the end of the year, and this information was not transmitted to managers to issue such documents in accordance with what is established by the notices for external evaluation activities,” said the director.
She added that the secretariat remains open to rectifying the documents, but very few have contacted her. “I have an average of 450 second and third year high school students, and only three students have contacted us to correct their statements,” he said.
Rectification in SEEDF
The report contacted the State Department of Education of the Federal District, which responded, in a note, that the management team of the Paulo Freire Secondary Education Center had already corrected the documentation of all students enrolled in PAS.
SEEDF also clarified that the system is functioning normally and that no other schools have had problems providing documents to their students.
The report also contacted the Cebraspe, which stated that the requests to compete through the quota system for public schools for the PAS 3 and VESTUNB_26 tests were in the provisional results phase.
The panel added that the final list of candidates with approved documents to compete through the quota system will be released on December 19 for Vest and December 29 for PAS.
Finally, he clarified that the responsibility for sending the documentation lies exclusively with the candidate, in accordance with the rules of the notice.
