Last Wednesday, the Mossos d’Esquadra carried out the expulsion of the largest immigrant camp in Catalonia, that of the 400 people who squatted the old B9 Institute of Badalonain the Sant Roc district, for two years and … half. This police intervention, authorized by a court decision, ultimately resulted in 19 arrests – the majority due to immigration law – and nearly 200 identifications.
From the Town Hall of the Catalan city, headed by Mayor Xavier García Albiol (PP), had been trying for several years to evict the residents of this complex, alleging that it was a source of conflict from the start. This is what happened last August when 20-year-old man dies after stabbing in this colony, confirming the words of the Catalan city councilor on the increasing crime in the area.
Months before this notorious expulsion, García Albiol had already regretted on several occasions the situation that existed around the B9 institute. He went there last October to talk to some of the “squatters” on the property and ask these illegal immigrants to leave the educational center without resistance.
During one of these interviews with one of them, the man directly accused of the Spanish government for “leaving them abandoned” after allowing them to enter the country. This is what the mayor of Badalona himself published on his social networks, echoing the complaint of this African migrant installed in the B9 enclosure. In this “post”, the “popular” politician harshly criticized the “irresponsibility in the policy of open doors to all” of the executive of Pedro Sánchez.
One of the immigrants expelled in Badalona was charged against the government for “leaving them abandoned”
In the interview with García Albiol, the young immigrant was very harsh about the recklessness of the government which lets in all those who seek to reach the country and then “abandons” them. “Spain can’t do this to us. Given that They let you enter their territory, they have to give us a solution“, so as not to leave you like that with nothing”, lamented this man.
“How are you going to live without knowing the language, without having papers? How are you going to live? “This is the big problem,” he admitted to the mayor of Badalona, who explained that the country “cannot accommodate all of you.”
More and more people are coming to Spain for this B9 “squatter”, but there are few measures to ensure that many of these young people can earn an honest living. “Spain releases you as an immigrant so that you can enter. If you do this, we will have to find a solution, because it is not our fault. Since they are allowing you in, they must offer you a solution so that we can live together here, and not leave you abandoned.“, he said.
“How are you going to get by without knowing the language, without knowing anything?“, asked this man, explaining that this was the reason why in B9 there were more and more immigrants “newly arrived from Africa” after the Government’s distribution between the communities.
García Albiol, very hard against the Executive after discussing with one of the squatters of B9 in Badalona
García Albiol did not hesitate to agree with this man, reminding him that the inaction of the executive had become a problem. “a problem for town halls”like that of the city of Barcelona. “You arrive in Spain, we leave you there, you go where you can and problem for you and problem for us“, he reproached him.
In this same publication on social networks, the councilor of the Popular Party wanted nothing other than to refer to the words of the illegal immigrant concerning the squatting of the B9 premises. “The man is right: “if they let us all in, they can’t leave us abandoned”», recalled the Catalan politician about the reasons which pushed these 400 people to settle in the Badalona building.
Thus, this man’s words forced the mayor to file a complaint against the administration. “The irresponsibility of the Spanish government’s open doors to all policy is paid for by the residents, municipalities and those affected themselves.. In Badalona, we will act in the interest of the city’s residents,” concluded Albiol, who finally obtained the eviction of the squatted property this Wednesday.
